About Core Concepts, The Team and Its Values
"Pilates is a kind of Western-methodized version of yoga concepts, using specialized equipment for stretching, strengthening and isometric exercises in which muscles develop tension without allowing them to cause actual movement. Pilates also combines a psychological component with the exercises and is very effective for some people. This isn't an option for everyone, because you can't really participate effectively unless you are in fairly good condition to begin with - good strength, good flexibility, no severe strains or sprains at the outset. As with any physical method involving exertion, a good instructor is a must and you can't avoid some risk of suffering a new injury or worsening an existing one as a consequence of your chosen form of therapy."
