Our Approach
At Core Concepts, we focus at preventing recurrences of chronic pains. This entails a structured approach of "treatment" and "prevention". Each has its own time and place.
Very much like when you have the flu, the right thing to do is to seek treatment through medication and rest. Once you have recovered from the flu, you should consider a healthier lifestyle to improve your body's resistance so that you are less susceptible to catching it again.Taking flu medication when you are healthy will not to help improve your resistance and is likely to more harmful for you in the long run.
Similarly for neck and back pain, treatment addresses acute and sub-acute pain. Once under control, prevention should be consider to reduce or eliminate the recurrence of pain. Without prevention, it is likely for the pain to recur again.(see "Pain Layers")
Typically, a patient will undergo through a 4-step process. Certain steps may not be required depending on the actual client condition.
First and foremost, perhaps the most important step is an assessment of diagnosis of the problem. The physiotherapist may then plan the treatment programme for you.
Manual treatment is typically provided for cases where there is excessive stiffness, soreness and/or acute pain.
Typically, for complex problems, problem is reassessed periodically to ensure that the treatment is progressing as planned or if a revision is required.
When pain is mostly or completely relieved, client should consider an exercise programme to help better protect the problem area. This step will be recommended by the physiotherapist as necessary.
Beyond, the simple joint-stiffness, our Advance Spinal Therapy approach incorporates a far larger view of functional bio-mechanics such as Walking Posture Analysis.
